Frank Lloyd Wright, popularly known as the greatest American architect, had a useful perspective on achieving success:
I know the price of success: dedication, hard work and an unremitting devotion to the things you want to see happen.
It was true in his time, and today it is more true than ever. I thought it interesting that he used the term “devotion”. To me that means complete focus and having a great love for what you do – a natural fit for an artist!
Thanks to Artquotes for this quote.
Was it devotion or an overwhelming ego – didn't he believe that he was the greatest architect of all times?
I really admire him (Frank LR). From what I heard he had a huge ego, but it seemed that he also had vision and a desire to make the world a better place. I agree that "devotion" is important to creat great art.
