This weeks quote is from the Painter’s Keys:
In this world it is not what we take up, but what we give up, that makes us rich.
………..Henry Ward Beecher
I thought this quote of interest to artists. How often do we juggle multiple income streams when maybe the secret to success is pure focus on what we do? Not an easy thing I admit, but food for thought.
Henry Ward Beecher, regarded by many as the greatest clerical orator of his century, was also the embodiment of much that the South feared and hated—a man of liberal ideas who was willing to marry religion, politics and money to accomplish his goals.
Here was a large personality, all of a piece, singularly free from repressions, and with no closet for a skeleton to lurk in. Beecher’s openness of soul—exhibiting frankly his delight in beautiful things and in human contacts—is perhaps his characteristic note, and together with the great historical interest of his work will probably go far to render it permanent.
