Technique #6 – Advertise in Art Industry Publications

If you are willing to spend a little money, you can promote yourself by advertising in art (or other) industry publications. Good examples are “ARTnews” and “Art In America”, which have large, worldwide circulations and are mainly read by collectors, dealers and professionals in the trade. You can select from either display or classified adds depending on your budget.

Another option is to get creative and try other publications as well. For example I’ve always thought that a small add in “New Yorker” magazine might work for some artists. Think about what people and industries might be interested in your art and then look for the “right” publications to reach them with. Always remember quality though – don’t choose magazines that might cheapen your art by association.

And – don’t forget to include your website URL in your add!
